i've started chapter 6.
i'm about 2/3 done with this chapter but i haven't really written on this blog about it.
this chapter is a continuation of moses and the israelites' journey...
one thing that i remember the most is about how moses did just ONE thing to displease God and therefore moses wasn't allowed to enter the promised land.
moses didn't engage in sexually immoral acts with the moabite women or worship a statue made of gold. he performed a miracle (creating water out of a rock) that is beyond ordinary human abilities... so it was from an anointing from God. but moses didn't quite follow God's instructions to the t; moses performed a Godly miracle out of his own anger and not to bring glory to God. so moses was punished...
this was actually really sad for me to read. if i were living in moses's time... goodness gracious... i wouldn't have made it past age 5. moses, the most humble and obedient person out of the whole camp, dishonored God through one instance of his life but was cursed for the rest of his time. :( poor moses...
whoa whoa, i wouldnt go as far as to say that he was cursed. God loved him very much and used moses SO powerfully throughout his life. bc of moses' poor choices and sin, the result of that is that he won't be able to go to the Promised Land (meaning he won't live to see that day come while on earth). yes that kinda stinks because he won't be able to see the "fruit" of his faithfulness in that aspect.. BUT that does not mean that God didn't bless him in so many other ways and if anything, God had already given him the ULTIMATE grace that would never be taken away from him - eternal life in heaven! so going to the promised land while on earth would have just been a bonus! but bc we're human and God gives us free will, we make our own choices and sometimes that results in a life that God didn't intend for us, but we have to live with those consequences bc we didnt listen to God. He can still work to redeem those experiences for our good in the end, but we still miss out on the "best" that God had in mind for us. does that make sense? anyway... just want you to know that Moses lived a freaking AWEsome blessed life. God annointed him and used him like crazy. that consequence is pretty small in comparison to the fact that He is in heaven now with God Himself! it's not a big deal when we remember that heaven is our GREATEST reward!
