so far i've been feeling really thankful for the bible. thankful that we have this book.. haha... yeah.. anyway.
moses died (at the end of chapter 6) so God spoke to joshua. God commanded joshua to prepare himself and his people by first abiding in God's word and laws, and being confident in God's power.
joshua sent two spies to the promised land to scope it out for him and his people before they embarked on their journey. the spies ended up having to stay at the local prostitute's residence for the evening. but the woman, when questioned by the guards if she was hiding the israelite spies in her residence, chose to protect the israelites and lied to the guards. she did so because she had heard of how powerfully God's hands were protecting over the israelites and performed miracle after miracle... so she was fearful of God and His people. she asked the spies to promise her that her and her family would receive God's protection for she hid the israelites in her home.
