psm 82. song of songs 2.

"defend the weak and the fatherless
uphold the cause of the poor and oppressed
rescue the weak and the needy;
deliver them from the hand of the wicked"
-asaph compares our God with the "gods" that (im assuming) refers to idolatry.
-our God is the only one who has the power to defend, uphold, and deliver whereas the other gods "know nothing, understand nothing" and will "fall like every other ruler."
-if i serve a God like this - "if he is for us, who can be against us?" (rom 8) - then i should have confidence in whatever purpose i'm fulfilling to serve the Lord... i.e. i want to pray bolder prayers for God's power to be manifested in the city of Detroit - do i believe that our God can save and rescue broken people? even in a place that can seem so neglected and hopeless? i want to experience the truth of this: "ask whatever you wish, and it will be given to you" from john 15.
